I am a HUGE Indian Jones fan. I have seen each one multiple times. I don't know if I have been so excited to see a movie as I was to see Crystal Skull (well, I was probably just as excited for the Star Wars movies...). I knew going into it that it wouldn't be as good as the original three, I know there would probably be some pretty corny things, and Indy was going to be an "old man". Wow, I cannot begin to tell you how disappointed I was in this movie, I don't even know where to begin and I know I will probably forget some of the things that drove me crazy, so these will just be in random order. I would also like to say before I begin, I know that this was suppose to be 20 years since the last movie, I know what was going on in the world at that time...that is still no excuse for this very poor story line.
I. "Mutt" swinging with the monkeys. Do I really need to say anything else. I mean, come on! Not only does he end up WAY up in the trees with a bunch of monkeys, but then he can actually swing along with them and end up meeting up with everyone else. Oh, brother!
II. Killer ants. Again, what else can you say. They are huge and ugly and they can consume a whole body in seconds. But, every Indy movie has bugs, snacks, spiders, etc. So whatever.
III. "Mac". Indy's friend who is a good guy, oh wait, a bad guy. Whoops, I mean he was a bad guy. That was a bit much, just make up your mind, is he good or bad.
IV. I hated how Indy all of a sudden had a huge career in the CIA and Military. They should have just let him be a professor that does archeology on the side. Why do they have to make up all the side stuff. It was a bit over the top for me.
VI. "Ox". The psycho doctor who was completely insane and just an idiot. He is suppose to be this amazing doctor and because he looked at the "skull" too long he went crazy. Again, really?
Okay, so I could honestly have overlooked everything about the movie if it hadn't been for....
VI. ALIENS. Are you freakin' kidding me? Who thought it would be a good idea to put aliens in an Indiana Jones movie? I honestly kept praying throughout the entire movie that it would end up being something else. But no, it was aliens. Not only aliens, but your stereotypical aliens with the long head and skinny body. Of course they can't just have aliens they have to have a spaceship that comes up out of the ground. Wow. I really can't being to explain how stupid that was. I know that every Indy movie has its paranormal things to it, but at least they were a little more believable and had more to do with "religion" or things of this world. But aliens? I'm sorry, what a way to ruin the Indiana Jones legacy.
If you haven't seen the movie, don't! Its a waste of time.
