Catalina Island

Yesterday was the perfect day! We went to Catalina Island with our good friends Lindsey & Resh. To catch the 7 AM ferry we had to leave our house around 5:45 AM, which is WAY too early for me. I pretty much just slept on the drive to the ferry. We had a nice ride over to the island, which takes a little over an hour. I was really surprised when we arrived, it wasn't at all what I had pictured.

We walked around for a bit and decided to get breakfast. Luckily, Resh had done some great research and found the best places to eat and all the fun things we had to do while we were there. We had a yummy breakfast at Antonio's Pizzeria. Who would have thought a pizza place would have such an amazing breakfast?

After breakfast we walked around a little more and then decided to rent a galf cart to drive around and explore the island. It was a great way to see the island and we were able to see some amazing views. Practically everyone on the island drives galf carts, its actually kind of funny to see. I liked all the "little" garages where they kept their carts.

After our fun drive we returned the cart and deciding to do a little window shopping. There are a ton of cute shops all along the beach. We came across a great little arcade and decided it was about time for a friendly competition of Skee Ball. Unfortunately, we lost both rounds but it was a lot of fun. We didn't want to give up too easily though, so we challenged them to a game of mini golf! So after our lunch at the Busy Bee we headed over to the golf course. I think we were all surprised at how fun the course was, it didn't have any fancy wholes but was still a lot of fun. Of course we took the game very seriously and had to let a few families pass us since we were taking our time. In the end it didn't matter because we still lost and ended up having to buy Lindsey and Resh ice cream. They were good sports though and didn't rub it in too badly. Our fun ended just in time for our sweet husbands to buy us cute sweatshirts to remember our time at Catalina Island. We had just enough time to pick those up and then head back to the ferry.

Isn't Catalina beautiful! I think it may be my favorite place, its so relaxing, clean and fun. There is pleanty to do and I look forward to going there again...soon!

March Air Museum

For our field trip this past weekend we went to March Airforce Museum in Riverside. They had a small indoor museum, and then a rather large outdoor museum. We were excited to find out that they had a B-17, which is the plane Ty's grandpa flew in WWII. While we were there we were able to watch a trainer jet do its "touch-and-goes", which was pretty cool to watch. Accross the street is a national military cemetary that has an awesome Medal of Honor memorial. It was really well done.

Happy St. Patrick's Day

To celebrate St. Patty's Day we decided to participate in the MCRD 5K Fun Run on Friday. It was such a fun afternoon and a great excuse to spend an afternoon with Tyler during a work day. We met early and walked through all the fun booths to get our "swag" and had fun treats. The run was fun, I won't tell you our time because it would probably embarrass Tyler (I'm sure I was slowing him down quite a bit). After the race they provided a yummy lunch and had a raffle, and although we didn't win anything we had a great time. I look forward to participating in the Turkey Trot this November.

Book Addiction

I have come to realize that I have a serious addiction...to books! I absolutely love books, I can't get enough of them. Don't you just love the smell of a brand new book? I love going to the book store and walking through my favorite sections and chosing a new book to read. Tyler has finally convinced me that I can't buy every book that I want to read, we would quickly run out of space and money. So, about a year and a half ago I started going to the library. Although the books aren't always in the best condition, it has been wonderful. The downside is that I check out way more books than I have time to read. I currently have 20+ books checked out, with more on hold. I also have a very decent stack of books that I have bought, but haven't gotten around to reading yet. And if you check out my GoodReads account, you will see my to-read list is way out of control, I think I'm up to 450+ books now.

I just love when you come across an amazing story. I finished Dragon Slippers (Bookworm Nation) last night and was so grateful to have stumbled upon this author. All her books are just amazing, fun reads. I love when a book just captivates you and you stay up into the wee morning hours to finish. Its hard to come by books like that, but when you do find them it is well worth it.

Jason "The Jerk" Bachelor

How many of you watched The Bachelor this season? I'm sure almost everyone I know has, for some reason, tuned in to watch this season of the Bachelor. From the beginning, I have never really been a fan of Jason's, I never really understood what all the fuss was about. I didn't like him on DeAnna's season and I was actually pretty surprised that he was chosen to be the Bachelor. One thing that always bothers me is how he continually refers to himself as "a single dad". To clarify, he is a divorced dad, not a single dad. His ex-wife still plays a role in the raising of their son, and so I think its a little misleading to constantly imply that he is doing it all on his own. Enough about that, lets get to the nitty gritty.

Honestly, I don't really care that he and Melissa broke up. How many of seasons of The Bachelor have actually produced a successful relationship? From what I've read he and Melissa had already discussed it, so I don't think that she was totally blindsided at the After the Rose (ATR). You can even tell as soon as she came out that something was up. I do think it was very lame how they even bothered with all that, couldn't they have just come out and said they had broken up? I think it was crazy that he lead her on for six weeks, when you know he didn't want to be in the relationship. I do feel badly for Melissa, but honestly, she can do a whole lot better than Jason (and so could Molly).

What really bothered me was that he actually asked Molly to get back together ten minutes after dumping Melissa. What creep does that? If he really cared about either girl he would have waited and talked to Molly later. I think Molly is insane for taking him back, who would want to date a guy like that? He has no class.

There have been many rumors that Jason and the producers had this whole thing planned from the beginning. If so, shame on them! That is just disgusting, there is enough natural drama on the show, they don't need to do such cruel things like that. I really don't know if its true, I don't really believe it. I think he did like Melissa and once the camera's were gone he realized that he didn't really know her and they didn't really have any chemistry. Stuff like that happens all the time. Where he made his big mistake was asking Molly out immediately after. I truly hope he was telling the truth about them not having contact during those six weeks, but who knows.

Anyway, those are just my two-cents on the issue. I am excited that Jillian will be the next Bachelorette, should be a great season!

Disney Birthday

This past weekend we had Tyler's family in town to celebrate our neice Makenzie's sixth birthday! We were so happy to have them here and to help celebrate with them. We spent a wonderful day at Disneyland. It is so fun to go there with little kids, they really make it so much more fun and its great to see the Disney magic at work.

We went to Ariel's Grotto for lunch with a few of the Disney princesses. The food was amazing, and it was so fun for the girls to meet some of their favorite princesses. For dessert they brought out two huge platters of the most delicious desserts! The little Ariel was actually made of white chocolate, she was too cute to eat (at least until Tyler bit her head off!).
