Here is a sneak peak at the plaque our family has commissioned for Grandpa Smith. There is a war memorial at Mt. Soledad, where family members can have these amazing plaques made to honor their family members military service. Some of the requirements are that they served honorably during wartime, have ties to San Diego (Grandpa helped build the San Diego Temple and lived here for five years), and honorable discharge from the military. After months of planning and a lot of work (by Laurel and Tyler), and funding by the Smith family, the plaque was finally finished and mounted this last week. In June we will be having a formal ceremony where the entire Smith family we be in attendence.

Grandps plaque is located on the 7th row, 13th from the left.
Grandpa's plaque is located kitty-corner to former California Govenor Pete Wilson. On the other side of the wall is former President Gerald Ford.
Here is the view from Grandpa's plaque. It directly overlooks the San Diego Temple.

What a great way to pay tribute to your grandpa! I love Mt. Soledad. That is where Chad proposed to me. It was at night and the Temple was all lit up.
