Saturday Field Trips

Tyler loves to plan fun Saturday activities for us. This past Saturday we decided to visit the San Diego Air and Space Museum at Balboa Park. We've been wanting to go there for a long time and after a year we finally made it. We were pleastantly surprised, it was a small but fun museum. My favorite part was a display they had of Bonnie & Clyde (I'm still not sure why that was in an Air and Space Museum...). They had the actual car that they died in, it had SO many bullet holes. I read that when they pulled their bodies from the car they each had over 50 bullet wounds. Sorry, that was probably "too much information".
After the A & S Museum we went down to the harbor and went on a tour of the Tall Ships. It was a fun "surprise" to learn that one of the ships had been made for the movie Master & Commander...the H.M.S. Surprise! It was fun to actually spend time where Russell Crowe made a movie. After touring the ships we went to Old Towne where they were having a celebration for the arrival of the Mormon Battalion. Every year the LDS Church puts on a fair to celebrate when the Mormon Battalion entered San Diego. We actually ran into some old friends from Virginia while we were there, so that was a lot of fun.

Good Times

Tyler and I had the best day yesterday! We started our day with our usual walk up to The Grubbery for breakfast. This has turned into one of our favorite weekly traditions. It's fun to sit outside, watching Charlie play while we eat a yummy breakfy! After breakfast we went downtown and spent the afternoon shopping at Horton Plaza. Its a great shopping mall with tons of cute shops. We decided to follow-up our amazing breakfast with an amazing lunch at a place called Napa Valley Grill (I think). It was located on the top level of the mall and it had a pretty nice view of the city. Later that night we drove up to San Clemente to meet some old high school friends of Tyler's. We had so much fun, and really enjoyed spending time with everyone. Yes, we ended up eating out for all three meals, and all three were fantastic. For dinner we ate at a place called Beach Fire Grill, where I had one of the best salads ever. If you're ever in San Clemente you have to go there!

Happy Birthday Charlie

Today is Charlie's first birthday! I can't believe he is already a year old, he still acts like a little puppy. He has been such a blessing in our lives, we truly love having him a part of our family.

Here is a collage of pictures of Charlie throughout the year. I will try and post a video of him performing all of his tricks a little later.

Adoption Blog

As many of you know, Tyler and I were approved for adoption a few months ago. Recently, we decided to create a seperate blog for our LDS Family Services adoption site. We're still working on a few finishing touches, but it is up and running. Below is a link to the adoption blog, so if you know of anyone that would be interested feel free to pass it along. I'm also open to suggestions, so if you have any ideas on how to make it better I'd love to hear them. Thanks!

Happy Anniversary

Today is our five year anniversary! I can't believe it has only been five years, it seems like we've been together forever. I still remember our wedding day perfectly. I was just talking to my Mom about that morning, how we were so stressed because it was snowing and we were worried that we wouldn't make it to the Temple on time. I remember driving down town and thinking how pretty everything was with the fresh snow on the ground. We actually arrived a little early, and my Mom and I picked a corner to sit in so we could watch for Tyler. I was so happy when I saw him walk in the doors, dressed in his Marine uniform. He looked amazing. We had a beautiful ceremony, it was so nice having our close friends and family there to share in our experience. After the ceremony and a million pictures were taken we had a lovely wedding lunch at the Joseph Smith Building. My only regret is that we didn't record the program that our families put on for us. After the lunch there wasn't much time before we had to get to our reception center. The night is almost a blur as so many people came to our reception. We were so grateful for all the support that we received.

We went on a cruise to Mexico for our honeymoon. It was a blast! Cruises are the best way to spend a honeymoon. You don't have to worry about driving around, hotels or finding places to eat. It gives you plenty of time to be together. Shortly after our honeymoon (3 days for me) I flew up to my new home in North Dakota. What an adventure that was. Our whole marriage has been so exciting, we've been able to live all over the country, and have traveled all over the world.

I love Tyler so much. He is all that I ever wanted in a husband, and more. We've grown together over the years and he has made me a better person. I am so grateful to have him in my life. We look forward to starting our family, and I know that I have picked the best father for our children. He truly is amazing.

Happy Anniversary Sweetie! I know we will have many more to come, and I look forward to each one. You're the best.
