Charlie

Charlie is doing really well. He will be 13 weeks old this Friday. He has already mastered Sit, Down and Come. When I say "mastered" I mean he does it when he wants, and sometimes if I ask nicely. He has been so much fun, and is growing so fast. I hope that he will stay small, but the way he is growing he might be get a lot bigger. He has a cute personality and loves showing it. He misses Tyler a lot during the day so when Ty gets home from work and is hanging out Charlie is always right by his side. When it is dinner time Charlie will pick up one piece of kibble at a time and curl up in Ty's lap to eat it, he will go back and forth until he has had his fill. Charlie loves going for walk and playing at the park. People love him too, we are stopped constantly and even had a lady flip a u-turn in her car, pull over, and chase us down just so she could meet him. He loves the attention!

HELP

Okay, so I have tried EVERYTHING and I can't seem to figure out how to change my Blogspot background. I didn't think I was that stupid, but apparently I am. Can you please help me figure out how to do it. I try following the instructions Natalie gave me from her site and I get the below error message...

Invalid variable declaration in page skin: Variable is used but not defined. Input: bgcolor

Sometimes its slightly different, but that is pretty much the message every time.

I just want to be able to change my background without losing all my side bar and postings. Any advice would be appreciated!

Introducing....Charlie

We finally bit the bullet and got ourselves a puppy. We would like to introduce you to the newest member of our family, Charlie. Charlie is a Maltese/Poodle, otherwise known as a Maltapoo or as I like to call him a Moodle. =) Below are some pictures of our furry friend and a little background on the last few days of his new life with us. It has been very overwhelming and rewarding.

Wednesday Night: We went looking at a couple different homes for puppies. Here is a picture of Charlie that night. We took to him immediately! He really impressed Ty and won him over that night. Early Thursday morning we decided that we had to have him.

Thursday: So around 1:00PM I drove down to Chula Vista to pick the little guy up. He cried all the way home, but was very happy once he arrived. Since we hadn't been exactly been planning on getting a puppy so soon we didn't really have anything prepared. Luckily the breeder sent us home with some bathroom pads (a wonderful invention) and some food. When Ty got home we went to the store and picked up a few more things and also decided to give him a bath. He was shivering pretty hard when we got done so I had to hold him forever until he calmed down and dried off.

Friday: Below is a picture of the little guy sleeping in his "den". He loves it in there. Today Ty was on duty so I was alone with Charlie all day and all night. At this point I still have no idea what I am doing and no clue how I am going to potty-train this pup. I was pretty overwhelmed and to be honest wondering if I got myself in over my head. We had a nice day together and cuddled and watched a movie (of course, all in between cleaning up his messes, who knew puppies went to the bathroom SO much!) That night I made a bed downstairs and slept next to his "den". It was a long night, but fun having a slumber party with him.Saturday: Tyler got off around 11 and hurried home to play with Charlie. By this time I had read enough to figure out kind of what I am doing, at least I had a game plan. Since Ty had been on duty the night before he was pretty beat so we just spent the evening at home. We had some friends come over to see the new addition as well as the missionaries over for dinner. They all loved him! All the excitement wore little Charlie out and he went to bed pretty early.

Sunday: Today was a nice day. Charlie and Tyler are so cute together, Charlie gets so excited whenever he sees Ty his tail starts wagging and he just bounces over to him as fast as his little legs can take him. We had a pretty messed up morning but made it to church kind of on time. We ran home after sacrament to let him out, but he had a pretty bad accident while we were gone. By time I got it all cleaned up (yeah, me, Ty doesn't like the cleaning up part so much, just the playing part) it was too late for us to make it back to our last meeting. So we decided to take Charlie for a walk. He hasn't had all his shots yet, so we carried him most of the time or let him play on the blanket. He is such a scared little guy he wouldn't leave the blanket anyway. He would stick his head out over the edge as far as he could before running back to us. A helicopter went flying overhead and he ran for me as fast as he could. Hopefully he will toughen up, after all he is a Marine dog.
Monday: Today Charlie had his first Vet appointment (at least the first one with us). He is a very healthy puppy and is progressing very well. He weighed in at just 2 pounds, although I swear he feels A LOT lighter, so the Vet gave me some diet supplement to help him out. I personally hope he stays small, but also want him to be healthy. After the vet we came home and he slept forever.
So, that is a brief introduction to our little Charlie. We love him so much and are so happy to have him in our family. In a few weeks he will be starting his first Puppy Classes, we're excited to get him into those and get the most training we can. He seems like a pretty smart pup already and comes when I call (not when Ty does, ha ha), and I'm planning to start his training on "sit" today. I will try not to talk about him too much, but that will be very hard to do. He seems to be the only thing I can talk/think about lately. Well, I better run home and let him do his business.

Random Thoughts...

Some have said that I post a lot of pictures and not enough "articles" so I thought I would give it a try. I am a very talkative person so you'd think this would be easy for me, but its not. So here are a few of the random things going on in my life. Enjoy (I won't be offended if you are bored and skip this posting and go straight to the cute puppy post below)!

I After one year and four months I will be going back to work. I know I shouldn't complain, but I am really not looking forward to it. I have come to enjoy my freedom; sleeping in every morning, going to the library and blogging, watching movies, planning fun dinners, all of this will soon come to an end. Okay, so I will only be working 24 hours and will still have a couple days off a week, it just won't be the same. I will be working at Wells Fargo again. I worked at Wells Fargo while we lived in Utah, and loved it. I really enjoyed the people I worked with there and thought it would be a nice place to work again. I will be a "Stage Director", pretty much greeting people as they come in and helping them find where they need to go. There will probably be a little more to it than that, at least I hope. I have to go in tomorrow to meet everyone and probably fill out some paperwork. I will then be in training, starting Friday, for two-weeks. That will be full-time so I probably won't be posting much during that time.

II I love our new ward! The Relief Society has all sorts of clubs. We have a Book Club, Cooking Club, and Card Making Club. I think there is even a quilting group and that isn't including our Enrichment nights. This Thursday is our Cooking Club meeting. The theme is "Breads & Salads", everyone is suppose to cook some bread and bring a salad. Then we all pig-out and swap recipes. This will be my first time going and I am REALLY looking forward to it. I'm not sure what I am going to make yet. I have a yummy recipe I got from my friend Amy Webb in Virginia for Berry Almond Muffins, so I think I will bring that. As for salad, I have no idea, so if anyone has a suggestion please let me know.

III Tyler has been really sick the past couple of days. I know this is mean to say, but I actually enjoy it when he is sick. I love taking care of him and he is so much more cuddly when he isn't feeling well. Maybe it brings out some hidden motherly instinct, but it is so fun to make him yummy meals and watch movies together. So here's hoping he stays sick just a little longer. =)

IV I watched Dancing with the Stars last night. I know I will probably get a lot of negative posts for saying this, but...I just don't like this show. Most of the time I don't know who the "stars" are and I get a little bored with everyone doing the same dances. I started watching So You Think You Can Dance first and maybe this ruined it for me. On that show they have a few different kinds of dancing, not just ballroom. I just can't get into this show. Sorry!

JHS Reunion

I just saw this and thought I would share with any fellow beatdiggers...

At this point, details still need to be worked out but this much we know: Date: August 1st, Time: 6:00pm, Place: Wheeler Farm, Activties: Dinner, dancing, games. As of right now we do not plan on mailing out invites, so please help us contact our classmates via e-mail and the classmates website. Hopefully we'll have our own website going soon for info and ticket purchases.

Puppies, Puppies, Puppies

All my life I have always wanted a puppy, and since we've been married Tyler keeps promising me one. Finally, he has agreed to let me get one! I am so excited. This past weekend we went looking for one. I haven't quite decided what breed I want so we looked at a few different ones. Since we live in a townhouse without a yard we decided we should get a small kind. Below are a few that we found (I fell in love with all of them, however the little Yorkie is probably the cutest puppy I have ever seen!)

Yorkshire Terrier

($2100, a little out of our price range, although I think he is worth it!)

Jack Russell Terrier Malt-a-poo (Maltese/Poodle Mix)
Which is your favorite? I think we will end up getting a Maltapoo, they are more in our price range. We really liked the Jack Russell but he was a "rough coat" breed, so his hair would look crazy when he grows up and not as cute. Yes, looks matter. =)

Lake Poway

Last week we decided to check out our nearby lake. I think its called Lake Poway, but I could be wrong. It is a beautiful lake with loads of ducks and other birds. They have a nice walking trail around the whole thing so you can go on nice walks or rollerblading. Poway is really an amazing area, they have so many parks and biking trails. There is so much to do. We love it here.
