Our trip to Japan was quite the adventure. I have been worried about the logistics for a very long time, in the end everything turned out a lot better than I thought. We had five big suitcases, seven carry-on bags, two strollers, two grandparents, three babies, two parents and of course Charlie. People stared at us everywhere we went! Our first flight to San Francisco went really well, it was a smaller plane and we were all able to sit by each other. Somehow Grandpa lucked out and had a row all to himself! We had to be at the airport by 4:30 AM, so we were all a little tired and the kids just slept on the flight. We arrived in San Fran and had about a four hour layover. The kids were all great. Josh LOVED watching all the planes coming and going and liked walking around the airport watching people. The flight from San Fran to Toyko was about 10 hours, two hours than I originally thought it would be. It was such a nice surprise to find out it would be a couple hours shorter. By the end of the flight the kids were pretty worn out. Somehow Grandpa ended up by himself again, not sure how he worked that out! The flight went well, my mom and I sat with the twins and Ty was with Josh. Josh was amazing, he pretty much slept the whole time. He'd wake up for a little bit and we'd take turns playing with him and then he'd crash some more. The twins were pretty good as well. Ashley slept for the first 4.5 hours and then was up for a little while and then slept some more. Austin was up for quite awhile, but once he crashed he was out for about 4-5 hours.
By time we got to Toyko though they were all pretty done with traveling. Long story short, going through customs and getting Charlie squared away and finally getting to our gate was a circus. Everyone was beat, hungry and had little patience. They all needed new outfits, feedings and a decent nap. Luckily by time we make it through all the hoops the flight was just about ready to board. We actually had to take a shuttle bus to the plane and then drag all our stuff up a very steep flight of stairs. The flight was pretty empty and we all were finally able to sit by each other. Not that it mattered though, all seven of us fell asleep before take off. We all slept from Toyko to Okinawa!
Once we arrived in Okinawa we still had an hour drive to our new apartment. We finally made it here and got some of our things put away, the kids all had second-winds and wanted to play for awhile. We got them to bed around 1 AM. BUT, a half hour later they woke up and I was up with them for the rest of the night. Grandma and Grandpa were able to get a little sleep and Ty had work the next day so it was left to Mommy to keep the babies entertained. I was pretty beat, but I was also really happy to finally be here in my new home. It was fun watching the sunrise the next morning, we're super close to the ocean, and have the prettiest view from our living room. Ty is so happy to have us all here, he has been in the best mood and is excited to show us around the island. I'll have to do a post of the house once things get settled a little.
In Toyko we had to check all our strollers and Charlie. We had temporary strollers that the kids really didn't like and poor Charlie was heartbroken to be seperated from us. He hadn't gone to the restroom since we left our house in Salt Lake. We were able to sneak outside for a couple minutes, but he still had a long ways to go until we got to our new home.

Peek-a-boo
Josh and the twins LOVE their new beds. They are finally out of their travel bassinets and in real cribs. It was fun setting them up, their nursery is going to be so cute!
We've been here a couple nights now and the kids are finally starting to sleep a little better. They all went to sleep around 7 last night. Ashley woke up at 2, and then they all woke up at 4. Hopefully in the next couple days they will all start sleeping through the night again. I couldn't have made this trip without the amazing help of my parents. They've really made the transition go smoothly and I've even been able to shower and get things put away. Things I wouldn't have been able to do if they weren't here to help out. They will be with us the next six weeks, although I wish it were longer!
