Lake Poway

Last week we decided to check out our nearby lake. I think its called Lake Poway, but I could be wrong. It is a beautiful lake with loads of ducks and other birds. They have a nice walking trail around the whole thing so you can go on nice walks or rollerblading. Poway is really an amazing area, they have so many parks and biking trails. There is so much to do. We love it here.

Dinner in San Clemente

A few weeks ago Tyler and I met up with Dibble and Jenn in San Clemente. Have I mentioned how nice it is to finally live somewhere where we already have friends? We met up at a place called "Duke's" where we played a little pool. Here is a great picture of Dibble and Ty, and also a cute picture of Jenn. I only wish I had been smart enough to get a picture of all four of us! After pool we walked over to this cute Mexican restaurant, I forget the name. The fool was pretty good. At the end of the meal our waitress told us that another customer had paid our bill. She said he wanted to thank Tyler for his military service. It was such a great surprise and such a nice thing to so. We really appreciated it!

The Amazing Man In My Life

Okay, so I cheated a little. I wasn't actually "Tagged" to do this. I saw this on Megan's site and thought it was a great way for me to brag about my amazing husband. A little cheating never hurt anyone, right?

Kathy's Movie Ratings...for future reference

Hello All,
It has been brought to my attention that my movie rating is a little vague. I should clarify, I rate a movie up to 5 starts. Although, sometimes I might want to rate using letters (a,b,c,d,f) instead, it will all depend on my mood. =)

Movie Reviews

This is a sequel to Step Up, which came out about a year or so ago. I really LOVED the first movie, the two actors had great chemistry and the dancing was great. Step Up 2 The Streets takes place in Baltimore again at the Maryland School of the Arts. The main girl, Andie, is from the streets. She joins the school when her gaurdian threatens to send her to Texas. Once there she meets Chase and a bunch of other students. They form a dance crew and want to compete in "the streets". It was a good movie, the dancing was great. I would recommend the movie to anyone, but still liked the first one more.

Kathy Rating: ****

I have been looking forward to this movie for a long time. About a week before it was released I saw an interview with Samuel L Jackson in which he said that the movie was based on a book. So, I decided I would read the book first. Although the book is somewhat desturbing, it was enjoyable. I wasn't that surprised to find that the movie was completly different from the story in the book. I am glad for most of the changes that were made, but I found that the character David Rice was more likable in the book.

I really enjoyed the movie though. Although I was dissapointed in how short it was and thought they could have spent more time on the story and character development.

Kathy Rating: ****

Fool's Gold. I was really excited for this movie. I loved Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey in "How To Lose A Guy In 10 Days", and really looked forward to seeing them together again. For the most part the show was cute, funny and overall I enjoyed it.
There were some things that could have been left out, such as the two girls flashing Matt before rescuing him (I'm sure all the guys out there that were dragged to the movie by their girlfriends loved that part), I thought it was tacky and a little surprised it got a PG-13 rating. I also thought the storyline with the two cooks could have been left out, it really didnt add anything to the movie.

I actually didn't really want to see this movie. I'm not really a huge Katherine Heigl fan, but it was the only movie playing at the time. I was pleasantly surprised and actually really enjoyed the show. It was predictable, as all chick-flicks are, but also very cute. I thought Katherine Heigl was great and looked very pretty in throughout the movie.
For those who don't know, its a movie about a girl who is "always the bridesmaind and never the bride". She has been bridesmaid at 27 weddings. The man she is in love with (her boss) falls in love with her little sister. Of course they decide to get married and now she has to be bridesmaid again. It reminded me a little of Runaway Bride, but overall thought it was a good movie.

Fun Weekend

This weekend was a blast! We had our good friends Nick & Chris in town. We brought them to MCRD, Old Town, visited the Midway. Saturday night we met up with Resh and Lindsey for dinner at our new favorite place Pat & Oscars (thanks Resh for introducing us to P&Os). After which Chris and I beat Ty and Nick at virtual Wii bowling. We loved beating them, and they were not happy losers!

Together Again!

Our Trip to Utah

Tyler and I had a wonderful time in Utah visiting our family and friends. We wish we could have stayed longer and been able to spend time with everyone. Tomorrow we will be leaving early (weather permitting) and driving the 10-11 hours home. Hopefully my Mom will be able to make it there okay. I'm sure after spending that much time in a car with us she will wonder why she decided to come. =) Below are just a few fun pictures from our trip home. Enjoy!

Here is Uncle Tyler with our cute nieces, Mackenzie, Eliza and Ivy. They are so cute and so much fun to hang out with. Tyler and I were happy to spend time with them and convert them to the Star Wars movies.
May the force be with you!
Here is Grandpa with cute little Brooklynn, she is a doll. I had so much fun seeing her and getting to know her more. It is so hard living away and not being able to see our nieces and nephew grow up. We'll have to come home more often. Below is a picture of my favorite little guy, Trevor. He is my best budd, and I miss him so much when I am gone. He is so funny and I love spending time with him.
Since Tyler will be celebrating his 29th birthday in San Diego, Mark and Nicole made him a nice birthday cake. Trevor was nice enough to help our Marine blow out the candles. Tyler's family also brought us to Tyler's favorite restuarant Rodizio's! I love that place.
While we were in town our beloved Church President passed away. We were very fortunate to be here with family during this sad time. Friday we were able to go to the viewing. After four hours of waiting (and frost-nibbled feet) we were able to see President Hinckley. It was a very moving experience. Below is a picture taken at the Conference Center right before his funeral. We were also able to attend Music and the Spoken Word on Sunday morning, where they had a tribute to President Hinckley. He is such an amazing man. We are really going to miss him and hearing his beautiful talks.
