This past week has been a real adventure. It started of normal enough, but by Thursday our lives were turned upside down, all due to our new friend Muifa. Muifa the Typhoon. The very grumpy typhoon. We had a little warning that he was coming for a visit, but we had no idea the trouble he would cause. Since I’ve been in Japan I’ve experience two mild typhoons. The first was still pretty overwhelming, but compared to Muifa it was nothing. The second ended up changing course before it reached us and all we got was a little rain. Muifa first made his appearance Wednesday, with a little rain. By Thursday morning Tyler was sent home early from work, by 8:00. By Thursday night we had water leaking in our windows and doors, we’d pushed all our furniture into the kitchen, the kids room was totally rearranged in a very haphazard way and we were camping out in the living room because it was too loud for us to hear the kids if we slept in our room. Aside from all the rain, flooding and extremely scary winds, and lack of sleep, the night went by okay. It wasn’t until Friday afternoon and our power went out that I kind of began to worry. Thirty hours later and our power was still out…I was just mad. By that time the babies were all pretty fed up, their patience was out and all they wanted was some nice cool air conditioning. By some miracle the power came back on around 6, an hour before their bedtime. It gave us just enough time to get them all properly cooled off, changed and ready for bed.
Even though the lack of power was a huge inconvenience, I was just grateful to have a roof over our heads, a safe place to sleep and my whole family together. It was so nice having this extra time with Tyler, without the normal interruptions or work. The kids loved the extra daddy time and we really made the best of the situation. The babies helped out by still taking their normal naps and by staying pretty happy regardless of our unusual circumstances. Josh had a rough time the first night, the loud winds scared him and he wanted to cuddle most of the night, but what a fun thing to cuddle my son during a typhoon, right?
The twins recently turned six months, here is a pic of Ashley having her first baby food.

I've never seen a baby soo exited to eat before. Austin bounces around and waves his arms, he loves food!
